So. Three months and nine days of flailing about and feeling sorry for myself seems to be pretty much the right amount really. Reason 1: we'd be in dire financial straits in about another month if we'd stayed where we were, and now don't have to drown under the universal concerns of rising food costs etc., because, yay, we can afford it. Reason 2: I was getting really bored of myself. Reason 3: I'm sure there would be a third reason, if only I was smart enough to think of it.
Justine wants me, lord knows why, to tell you six things about myself. Unaccustomed as I am to public revelation, what's a weblog for if not a chance to go on and on talk about myself.
- I'm a fantastic cook.
- I have a stomach the size of an elephant in her third year of gestation to prove it.
- I get embarrassed when I tell people I have a blog. Actually, I don't tell people I have a blog. Come to that, I don't even really have that much of a blog.
- I never look at my own teeth in the mirror. What you don't see can't hurt you.
- I cried in the movie Mama Mia! but console myself with the thought that Meryl Streep made me do it.
- My 22 year old nephew thinks Meryl is hot. I think Meryl is hot. A gay Colin Firth, though, is like pouring tomato sauce over lemon meringue pie. Some things are just not meant to be.

ah, thank you.
you have given me quite a chuckle on this rather dull and boring work day... :)

Little did I know I had been searching through my bloglines for something of substance and wit. Now I've read yours, I can stop searching.

I totally agree about Colin Firth.
And you know what? he married an Italian and his kids have the same names of my first too. It could have been me.

Oh, I am with you about Colin Firth. I have been in love with him ever since Bridget Jones.
Take care.

I have always thought Colin Firth was a little camp anyway. He doesn't do it for me at all.In fact he spoiled my image of Mr Darcey who I love in the book!
It's Pierce Brosnan's singing that is putting me off seeing the film.A gay Colin Firth I can cope with!

Thanks for the heads up on Colin Firth. Nothing pulls me out a slump like watching Colin in Pride and Prejudice. I guess he's trying to expand his horizons. Not acceptable!

What's more wrong is Pierce "007" Brosnan singing?

The secret is to tell people that you write FOR a blog. This implies that you, because of your wit and exceptional writing ability, have been asked or even employed to contribute. Non Blog people are normally impressed.

Tomato sauce over lemon meringue...ha ha ha! :-) You always have the best analogies. And by the way, the fact that you THINK your blog is not worth mentioning is what makes you so COOL, Megan. Your words are simple, uncluttered and heavy with meaning. Like a poem. ;-)

Ha ha about Colin Firth! That was funny wasn't it?
We saw a live Australian production of Mamma Mia in Singapore 3 years ago, and it was wonderful.
But I loved Meryl in the movie too.
She is pretty good for almost 60... actually pretty amazing.
Fun, and it is a tear jerker.
You have a blog, but you don't tell people you know. It's easier that way I think.

I enjoy visiting your blog - substance and wit (as mentioned above) and the magic and mystery in all things ordinary make a pretty convincing double-couple... Best wishes from Berlin, Germany!

i cried too during Mama Mia...
i wonder what it was that made you cry?
and yes about the tomato sauce

Ah, I wish we could have dinner together one day with our common tendencies of cooking and that elephant stomach thing (gasp)...! Though I hate to think of it that way...
