After I dropped the kids off at school, I went straight to the supermarket to get something for dinner and tomorrow's lunches. Not a big planner. They had yesterday's scones on sale, and I had need of a breakfast that wasn't cereal. Buttered scones and tea is a meal that entire civilisations have been built on.
I surfed the web for a short while, until the laptop's battery died and I had nothing other than housework to do. I just ... I sat there thinking that I just can't be that person anymore. I took out a spare blank canvas, because I have those, and used my ninja drawing skills to sketch in a teapot. Oh, yeah. I'm that good.
This is after its 1000th repaint. I kept getting it all wrong and having to add highlights back in. I was having trouble with the spout until I realised it was because the lid was so munted. I used white paint to get the proportions back in line with something vaguely realistic.
Done. Imperfect, but you know, done.I copied entirely borrowed heavily from a teapot in Misty Mawn's book. I try all the learning to draw books, but I'm not disciplined enough no good, and Misty's book has some simple line drawing I like to copy and colour in. She's an inspiring colourist.
I like to paint. I like it very much indeed.
