Welcome to my bloggy blog, it's a pleasure to have you here. If you're new to The Scent of Water, hi! You're lovely! And if we've met before, hi again! You're still lovely! There's a lot here that's the same as it always was (me) but a lot that has also changed.
I don't have one particular kind of blogging genre I adhere to, and I've always found the mess of that difficult to write to, and curate. My happiest blogging year was the one where I committed (and stuck to) writing something about my day, every day. There was nothing magical about writing every day, what I enjoyed was the process of seeing a large project through from beginning to end; it was deeply satisfying and not a little enlightening.
So that's what I do now. One year long project, every year. I'm also a doctoral student (in narrative psychology - I write a blog about that too), mother of three busy teens, and an erstwhile arty type, so any and all projects need to be both simple and colourful. I'm an enormous fan of simple and colourful. I feel everyone should be a fan of simple and colourful.
The project for 2017 is Weapons of Mass Happiness. Every week I create something that makes me happy, something that uses a joyful colour, a delicious flavour, an eccentric character, a beautiful texture; every week I tell the story of that creation. I hope the joy I get from the making and the telling will be infectious, as joy is wont to be, thus increasing the mass of happy the world over.
Let's get to it. Week 1 begins in 5, 4, 3, 2...
